Quarter Finals:
1. Roger Neville overcame Lee Orton, where the former blocked and countered effectively.
2. Scott Lawson, the 2007 Champion eclipsed Monty Singh, who attacked without much luck.
3. Dave Newnham’s bat mesmerised Martyn Garnett, who admitted as much after the game.
4. Paul Freeborn was too powerful for a tiring Tony Rochford.
Semi-Finals:
1. A fascinating duel saw Roger block and counter attack Dave’s best efforts. Good stuff.
2. Scott Lawson swept Paul from the match with speed around the court and superb all round play.
Final:
With a start of +9, Roger proceeded to resume his game plan that had succeeded thus far, to block the many loops and forehand smashes that Scott produced. The latter man tried his utmost but went down 26-16. The second end saw Scott widen his attack, and produced many good back hands before Roger managed to block some of them, but the former Champion narrowly lost, and surrendered his crown 26-16 to the 2008 Champion, Roger.

Final:
A query with the Handicap preceded this final where Brian (Ranking Code 1 & Derek, Code 4) met. The latter was
given only +6. Nevertheless, the match went ahead and Derek gave of his best but lost the first 15-26. Brian went on to win the second game and the match 26-21, and in shaking hands commiserated with the gallant loser.
The evening was enjoyed by all who took part and was well organised by Karen King, assisted by Trevor Farmer.
