Results from Week 1 (week ending 10th October 2008)
Division 1
Title holders Vics A, lacking Roger Hookey for most of the season, were beaten 8-2 by CPC Appley, for whom Scott Lawson won all three singles. Keith Taylor won two for Vics, and 14 year old George Downing won 2 for Appley. CPC Sovereigns also looked title contenders and Ryde Tigers and Havenstreet also swung into early form with comfortable wins. Division 1 looks a little uneven this year.
Division 2
Rookley will be hard to stop in Division 2, the title “has beens” due more to modesty than advancing years. CPC Panthers looked very strong. St Lawrence and evergreen Havenstreet fought out a terrific draw, but John Worley was unbeatable for the Saints.
30 Up
In the 30 up competition last years runners-up CPC Hawks staked an early claim with a 20-10 victory over CPC Dynamos. Relegated Ryde got a torrid welcome from St Lawrence 2, who may be early favourites in this division.
