Division 1
The two horse race continued in Division 1, as CPC Appley inflicted a 10-0 defeat on Newport Vics B, and CPC Sovereigns beat Rookley Stallions 8-2. Newport Vics A, in third place, were also in fine form in their 8-2 victory over Ryde Tigers. Ryde Eagles enjoyed better fortune as they swept aside Havenstreet A by 7-3 after being 2-0 behind.
Division 2
In Division 2 Rookley HB continue to look unstoppable as they administered a 9-1 thrashing to Ryde Cheetahs. So the main interest is in second place where Saints A are a point ahead of CPC Panthers. Saints A suffered a setback as Ventmen held them to a 5-5 draw despite John Worsley’s three. CPC Panthers did a little better beating Newport Vics C 6-4, which means they drop only a single point. However, the losers provided the man of the match in Martin Parsonage who won three against such strong opposition.
Ryde Lions won the local derby against Rooks. Martyn Garnett was outstanding again with three wins, and his victims included the formidable Brian Voller. The 7-3 scoreline left Rooks in bottom place, but still within reach of better days. Havenstreet B defied the league table positions in their 6-4 win against CPC Stooges. Alan Parker won three and Joy Wickens two, enabling them to get away from the relegation zone.
30 Up
The three matches in the 30up competition included two 15 all draws, a rare event even in this closely contested section. The first draw was produced by Ryde Ravens and CPC Hawks, both with a chance of honours. Kevin Allen saved Hawks with three wins. The other draw was a setback for Vics Terminators, who also have a chance of top place, but conceding 15 points to CPC Dynamos did not help their cause. In the meantime Saints B increased their lead with a 22-8 demolition of Ventvets who remain in last place.
