Division 1
The two teams from the CPC, Appley and Sovereigns, remain undefeated. Appley whitewashed Havenstreet 10-0 and Sovereigns vanquished Ryde Tigers 8-2. Jim Hall, with two wins, was the centre point of resistance. Vics A remain in third spot, seeing off Ryde Eagles by 7-3 and Keith Taylor won three for them. The form book also prevailed among the bottom teams where Rookley Stallions beat Vics B 7-3. Steve White and Tom Johnson each recorded trebles.
Division 2
There was a surprise for league leaders Rookley HB on their away trip to Havenstreet where former star Rob Warren inflicted three singles defeats on them, so Rookley dropped a rare point but still won 6-4. Saints A put a little distance between their main rivals CPC Panthers and themselves, as they crushed CPC Stooges 8-2, whilst CPC Panthers emerged from a hard fought draw against Ryde Cheetahs and so dropped two points. For Saints Micky Gee recorded his first hat trick of the season with an impressive display whilst John Cornforth won all three for Panthers, which saved his side from defeat. Ryde Lions banished relegation worries with a 7-3 win against Vics C. Ryde Rooks lost 6-4 but Ventmen too emerged with a useful and unexpected point as they went down by only 6-4. Andy McQuillan had his best win of the season against the formidable Alan Brewster. For Ventmen Roy Wiltshire won three.
30 Up
In the 30up competition Saints B are still ahead after their 17-13 win against CPC Dynamos. Derek Pittard again won all three and this time Ted Martin matched him. Vics Terminators had a bad day which put CPC Hawks within reach of the leaders. The latter won 21-9 and Kevin Allen inflicted on Trevor Percival his first defeat of the season, winning 16-14 in the decisive set. Ryde Ravens are losing ground in the title race although they defeated bottom team Ventvets 21-9. Pauline Rorke and Alan Hopkins scored hat tricks. This section may well be decided on the last day of the season, and six matches remain.
