Isle of Wight County Table Tennis Association (IWCTTA)

Division 1

CPC Sovereigns made sure of the runners-up medal of Division 1 of the Island Table Tennis Association when they beat third place Vics A by 7-3. Don Hobbs and Lee Orton recorded trebles. Ryde Eagles three man team consisted of three reserves but they still defeated Vics B 6-4, with Barry Howlett winning three.

Division 2

In Division 2 Steve Downing produced the performance of the season when he won all three singles against champions Rookley HB. The champions were near to defeat as five matches went into the fifth set, but they won them all and so recorded a 7-3 victory. Rob Warren played twice for Havenstreet B and again his class told as he won six out of six. Vics C were beaten 6-4 and Ryde Lions by a similar score. Vics C enjoyed better fortune against Ryde Rooks whom they committed to bottom place and relegation via an 8-2 victory. Darren Cooke was their hero with three singles, his victims including the formidable Brian Voller.

30-Up

In the 30-up competition Saints 2 enjoyed their mixed fortunes. They hammered Ventvets 25-5 a big help in their title run, but surprisingly fell to Vics Terminators by 19-11. This leaves the title wide open. For Vics Clive Routledge and Jon Baker played above themselves and Trevor Percival was again unbeatable. Terminators also defeated CPC Dynamos by 17-13 and so restored their medal hopes, but only if further big wins can be achieved.
