After only two rounds of the IW Table Tennis Summer League, no team has maximum points. The lead is shared by three teams with 9 points.

Harriers are the oldest team in the league, with John Winkles and John Moyse. They won 4-1 against Warriors, with two for John Winkles who is still unbeaten.

Vikings swamped Mosquitos by 5-0 and Alan Hulbert and Karen King continued their excellent form.

Hurricanes crushed No Hopers by 4-1. Scott Lawson was again in scintillating form and even with maximum starts will take a lot of beating. Again No Hopers did not enjoy the best of luck with two matches lost 26-24 in the final set.

Gladiators and Tornados unrolled an excellent match won 3-2 by the former, thanks to Paul Freeborn’s two singles wins. Trevor Farmer beat George Downing assisted by a start of 20! The third set ended 26-23.

Tiger compensated for their mishaps last week with a 5-0 against Bears. Simon Underhay and Ron Kemp cruised to victory for Tigers.

Possibly the best match of the round was that between Rookley Stallions and Ryde Eagles, won by the latter by 3-2. Steve White deserved a better fate after two singles wins, but Martin Dove and Roger Nevell won the other three. Steve has been playing in this competition, off and on, for thirty five years and is playing as well as ever. The match finished at 10.08pm, one of the longest matches ever seen in the Summer League, and included a game between Steve and Roger which went to expedite at 19-14 in the third!
