Results from Week 4 (week ending 30th October 2009)
Division 1
CPC Gladiators keep their advantage at the top of this division, as their other team CPC Appley have played one match less. This week Gladiators beat Newport Vics A 6-4, where unbeaten Andy Ely and George Downing picked up three games each.
Havenstreet A took on the might of CPC Appley and lost 8-2, their only successes being Alan Hulbert and Kev Gatrell winning against Andy Davies. Unbeaten Scott Lawson (3) and Lee Orton (3) gaining their maximums.
Ryde Tigers fought a strong battle against Shanklin Piranhas, just losing 6-4, having been 4-3 up. PC again won his three, beating Tigers’ Jim Hall in 4 close games. Don Hobbs won two for Shanklin; the closest game being the doubles between Paul Freeborn / Jim Hall and PC / Don Hobbs, the Shanklin team taking the game 13-11 in the 5th set for the win.
The Dogs from Rookley lost 7-3 to Ryde Eagles, for who Ron Kemp was unbeaten. Roger Nevell chipped in with two wins, as did Tom Johnson for the Dogs. Martin Dove came close against Tom Johnson, having led 2-1, he finally lost 11-9 in the 5th.
Division 2
Vics B continued on their winning ways with an 8-2 win against Saints 1. Dave Newnham and Barry Joyce both scored maximums. They now lead the division by a point from Ryde Cheetahs.
CPC Panthers lost 7-3 to Ryde Cheetahs, for whom Mike Platt scored a good maximum. Mike Jose for Ryde and John Cornforth for Panthers scored two wins each. John Winkles went the distance with both Tom Groves and Mike Platt, but came away without a win.
Havenstreet B remain in third place in the division with a 7-3 win against Ryde Lions. Alan Peaker and Dave Rendle both registering hat-tricks for Havenstreet. Nick Kelly and Ian Loosemore scoring for Ryde.
CPC Stooges beat Newport Vics C 7-3, thanks to a maximum from Steve Downing who won all his games in three. Martin Parsonage scored two for Vics, with wins in 4 games against John Moyse and Kevin Allen.
Division 3 (30 Up)
Ryde Rooks are dominating this division, and scored another impressive 28-2 win, this time against Newport Vics F. Vics only success was when John Pearcey beat Pauline Rorke 13-11, 3-11, 11-6. All other games were won 3-0 by Rooks, and they now lead by 27 points.
Venturians won their first game of the season in a 21-9 win against second placed Ryde Ravens, all thanks to three wins from Roy Wiltshire, and two from Brian Evans.
Saints 2 had an impressive win against CPC Quintet 21-9, where Derek Pittard won his three singles, and there were two wins each for Tom Flood and Pat Dean. Maggie Preston won two in reply for Quintet.
