Vikings tightened their grip on the top spot of the table tennis Summer League with a 5-0 destruction of Harriers. Karen King and Alan Hulbert continued to play immaculate handicap games for the winners.

Hurricanes, without Scott Lawson, remain in second place but three points behind after they defeated Eagles 3-2. Simon Underhay proved an admirable substitute for Scott with two wins. Eagles won the doubles 28-26 in the third set an so set the scene for what was to prove an exciting match.

David Lewis again won two for Mosquitos who surprisingly defeated Warriors 4-1. Brother Paul is also hitting form after missing a season.

No Hopers left bottom place at last thanks to two points gained against Rookley Stallions in a 2-3 defeat. Carl Rye again won two singles for Rookley and so was the father of their victory.

Tornados won their first match of the season as they defeated Bears 4-1 and Trevor Farmer made the most of the handicaps with his first double of the summer.

After last week’s disappointments, George Downing came to grips with the handicaps winning his two singles and beating Peter Dove with a start of 15. This was a fine feat and did much to bring about his team’s 3-2 victory.
