Results from Week 6 (week ending 14th November 2008)
Division 1
The two top teams remained untroubled at the top of Division 1. Vics A, however, are making up ground with a 7-3 win against Ryde Tigers, for whom Jim Hall netted a notable hat-trick. Havenstreet fell too easily against 8-2 winners Ryde Eagles. Only Alan Hulbert looked the part for the losers with two wins, bettered by Roger Nevell who won three for Ryde.
Division 2
Rookley HB opened a huge gap so early in the season at the top of Division 2 as they swept Saints 1 to a 10-0 defeat. The losers may feel that this was not a match to enter with their best two players missing. CPC Panthers are a surprise team in second place after an 8-2 against Havenstreet. John Gedling and Andrew Davis won three singles each. Vics C are still looking for their first win after Ryde Cheetahs beat them 7-3. Mike Jose won three for Ryde. CPC Stooges won an epic contest 6-4 getting slightly the better of Ryde Rooks. Promoted Ventmen continue to perform well with Alan Brewster and Roy Wiltshire almost unbeatable. However, this time they found their match in Martyn Garnett who beat both en route to a notable hat-trick. The match ended in an honourable 5 all draw.
30 Up
In the 30 up competition Saints 2 won the top table clash with Ryde Ravens by 16-14 after a magnificent match after some terrific play by Derek Pittard for the winners. However, Vics Terminators took a huge stride with a 27-3 demolition of Ventvets. With all points counting, they are now within 9 units of top place.
The local CPC derby between Hawks and Dynamos was a 19-11 win by the former. Harry Mets and Kevin Allen won three apiece, for they will need to repeat many times to climb the table now that the top teams have hit such strong form.
