Results from Week 6 in the Summer League (11 June 09)

Warriors 4 - Bears 1

Vikings increased their lead at the top of the Island Summer League to five points. Karen King and Alan Hulbert recorded maximums points in a 5-0 thrashing of Gladiators.

 

In pursuit Hurricanes enjoyed a narrow 3-2 win against Tornados. Scott Lawson remains unbeaten. Continuing to give big starts he won 21-26, 27-25, 28-26 against Trevor Farmer.

 

Eagles, who defeated Harriers 4-1, are level with Hurricanes in the number two spot which gains the Stevenage Cup. Roger Nevell won two overcoming starts of nine and continuing his good form.

 

Tigers overcame Rookley by the narrowest of scores. All four players won one each, and the doubles decided the match for Dave Rendle and Peter Dove.

 

Warriors recorded their first win of the season as they consigned Bears to a 4-1 defeat, Mike Jose winning two.

 

Mosquitos are the surprise package of the season. They are receiving big starts but are making the most of their good fortune. David Lewis’ good run continues as he added two more singles wins to his fine record so far. Their 4-1 defeat of No Hopers sends Mosquitos to fourth place and No Hopers to bottom yet again. For the losers Tom Groves contributed the only point. Giving a start of five he beat Paul Lewis 26-21, 26-28, 26-24.
